		<description>You outlined &#039;internal&#039; and &#039;external&#039; styles well...but believe it or not, there is yet ANOTHER way. &#039;Inline&#039; styles. They aren&#039;t something you want to use alot, but may help out when you are in a bind.

They can be applied like so:

First is the PNG format. It too, is also very common on the web today. It works exceptionally well for CSS sprites.

The second is the &#039;alt&#039; attribute. For each image, an alt attribute should be added to help describe the image. It is viable for SEO as well as accessibility (screen readers).
